Using Unplugged Computational Thinking to Scaffold Natural Selection Learning
نویسندگان
چکیده
Computational thinking (CT) is a thought process composed of computer science ideas and skills that can be applied to solve problems better understand the world around us. With increase in technology computing, STEM disciplines are becoming interwoven with computing. In order prepare students for careers, computational literacy needs developed K–12 education. We advocate introduction through incorporation CT core courses, such as biology. Additionally, at least some this integration should unplugged, or without computers, so all schools participate developing literacy. These lessons integrate unplugged content help develop competencies learn natural selection simultaneously series which leveraged learning within varying contexts. these lessons, engage creation handwritten algorithmic explanations selection. Students build while making sense process, resulting converged about science. This article presents description CT, specifics classroom implementation student work outcomes, conclusions drawn from work.

Model of Learning Computational Thinking
There is a high demand for qualified information and communication technology (ICT) practitioners in the European labour market, but the problem at many universities is a high dropout rate among ICT students, especially during the first study year. The solution might be to focus more on improving students’ computational thinking (CT) before starting university studies. Therefore, research is ne...
متن کاملThinking about evolutionary mechanisms: natural selection.
This paper explores whether natural selection, a putative evolutionary mechanism, and a main one at that, can be characterized on either of the two dominant conceptions of mechanism, due to Glennan and the team of Machamer, Darden, and Craver, that constitute the new mechanistic philosophy'. The results of the analysis are that neither of the dominant conceptions of mechanism adequately capture...

متن کاملA Human-Centred Tangible approach to learning Computational Thinking
Computational Thinking has recently become a focus of many teaching and research domains; it encapsulates those thinking skills integral to solving complex problems using a computer, thus being widely applicable in our society. It is influencing research across many disciplines and also coming into the limelight of education, mostly thanks to public initiatives such as the Hour of Code. In this...
متن کاملTechnology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) Tools to Improve Computational Thinking Skills
The common and easy access to technological devices has led to the rapid inclusion of technology into the learning process. The development of technical skills, as well as the increasing confidence in computer attitudes, seems to be obvious. We therefore propose to go beyond and advocate the use of TEL to provide specific leadership, multi-tasking and other organizational skills, known as compu...
